Weekly Photo Challenge: Masterpiece
The folks over at Daily Post have gone all artistic with ‘Masterpiece’ as this week’s theme.
For me, cathedrals and churches are masterpieces. Not only in their design but also when you consider the tools they had to work with and the length of time it would take to build. Those who began it may well have not seen it finished.
There are similarities in the buildings but also wonderful differences. The one thing they share is being Masterpieces of human endevour!
Here you have: Ely, Fountains Abbey, Lincoln, Liverpool, Rochester, Coventry, Perigueux, Le Puy en Valey (which is on the top of a rock!)

I love visiting Cathedrals and Churches and also think that the buildings in themselves are masterpieces. Beautiful photos!
I love cathedrals! Of these, I’ve only been to Coventry but a couple of my favourites in the UK are the one in Glasgow and the one in Canterbury.

Wow. This is beautiful. So glad you shared!
I heard that sometimes the artists would sign their work in hidden places, such as behind a wall, because they were so aware of what a masterpiece they were creating. They truly are beautiful.
I love all of them! I thought the first was Gloucester, these vaults are like a larger version of there if my memory serves me right?

Every one of them an architectural masterpiece, and a photographic one, as well.
Wonderful cathedrals… a masterpiece, indeed.. 🙂
I love old cathedrals and stained glass. 🙂 Lovely!
These take my breath away. To think how long ago these were crafted without half the tools we have today. Awesome.
