Perfect Storm?
This post is for Saturday Centus. This creative meme from Jenny Matlock gives us a prompt which with only 100 more words we turn into a creative piece. The prompt is in red.

When I woke my senses told me it was a dark and stormy night. The swaying trees had turned the streetlight into a strobe flashing furiously. The normal comforting tapping of the small branches against my window had become a violent exchange. The rain, seeming in competition with the wind, lashed against anything in its path.
Yes, it was a foul night. The sea would be at her angriest waiting for victims who dared to test her. Our little lifeboat would be tossed around like a rag doll.
There goes the siren – what fool has put my life at risk for the sake of their own pleasure?

Wow, you described a storm so perfectly. I especially loved the line about the trees turning the streetlight into a strobe light. Excellent job!
I liked your take on this. I’ve often thought of what it feels like to be the rescuer who has to risk his or her life to bail out someone who made a foolish decision in the pursuit of a good time.
Nice job!
=)
I could hear the howl of the wind and imagine the lashing of the rain. Beautifully descriptive. And the last line just made me shake my head. With our recent flooding, we’ve had many emergency workers have to risk their lives to rescue people who drove around barricades and were swept away by flood waters. I can’t imagine how frustrating that must be!
I liked the description in your first paragraph…very visual! You made me feel like I was there! Nice job!
I just posted two assignments in one post. I’m bad, but please come visit me anyway.

Great job Julia! Very stirring piece! Your last line was great and captured the frustration of a lot of emergency workers, I’m sure! Excellent!
Your imagery was stunning Julia. I could see, hear, and feel it all. Nice take on the prompt.
This reminds me of a hurricane, and I have lived through numerous of them. Great work!
Thanks for commenting on my centus. I just found it this morning as was surprised I had messed with prompt a tiny tad. I usually follow Jenny’s rules to a T….I guess I was so into my own writing, I lost my focus! 🙂
I got told off when I did it!! Almost detention!!
Really feel the sea, the foul weather. NIce job!
Thank you – very generous!
Wow, the imagery…the rain and the wind battling…I felt as though I was there…
