It must be a mistake!
For the Centus this week we have an intriguing prompt. We are allowed to add 100 words more to it to make a little creative piece. Here’s my entry for today & as usual the prompt is in blue.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
It was such a novel idea to help the actors really get inside their characters. Parts had not yet been allocated but the prop we were given would indicate the role. We had to ‘Feel’ the part before we got the script.
When the box arrived I was so excited. I just knew the ruby slippers would fit me perfectly. I ripped the wrapping off in a frenzy.
An involuntary gasp of shock escaped my lips when I opened the shoebox and saw the pointy-toed shoes. This must be a mistake! He can’t possibly imagine that I could play the Wicked Witch of the West! I’m so obviously made for Dorothy! I’ve been practicing & everything!
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Now pop over to Jenny’s to read some more etnries for Saturday Centus!

Dear jfb57,
I love this SC.text of yours! It is so funny, but it is also very clear. There are other SC-text that imply a connection to the Wizard of Oz. Here you are very clear that this is all about the theatre and who gets the star role of Dorothy.
You use of the prompt is perfect, flawless! Pointy shoes mean that your poor protagonist has gotten the role of the wicked witch.
The method-acting routine-talk ‘getting into the role; feeling the role’ before even reading the script. Love it! And this works so well to build suspense.
Very clever! I wish I were the one to give grades. I’d give you a gold star!
Well done!
Best wishes,
Anna
Anna’s SC#35
That is too generous of you Anna! So glad you liked it!
Clever, clever girl!
Love the use of the prompt here.
This week has just made me smile. Everyone really got their creative on…big time.
Thanks for linking.
Get over it, Dorothy. Rock out with the Munchkins and let those shoes shine!
Great twist…………Namaste,,,,,,,,,,cj
I was a munchin in a production once. I had a great hat I remember! Thanks for visiting!
i guess it could have been worse … it could have been tinman boots …
OMG – yes. You’re right! 😉
Ah…but Harry Potter has made witches look cool, so go on, amaze the audience and flaunt those shoes as well…loved your post.
I’m a HP fan!! Hadn’t thought about that!
POINTY TOES ARE IN STYLE, MY DEAR!!
…but they are so uncomfortable! 😉
but the witch would be so much more fun!
You’re right of course!
Never thought to go to Oz and I love how you worked this into an acting theme.
Many thanks & great to see you here!
Great take on this prompt.~Ames
Aw- thank you kind Sir!
LOL, aww. Everyone would rather be Dorothy. I bet you would be a great wicked witch of the west, ha.
Now how do I take that! 😉
Stop acting and get into those shoes! LOL
Enjoyed the post.
Yes Sir! *salutes*
This is great! I love what you’ve done with the prompt. Mine is here. http://razzamadazzle.wordpress.com/2010/12/11/saturday-centus-32/
Many thanks!
Yep, I went the Oz direction, too.
=)
Can’t have too many Dorothys! Thanks for stopping by!
The pointy shoes made me think of Oz as well!
Isn’t that strange!
I never thought of witch and pointy shoes together. I see black and big buckles. I will have to practice a new thought for witches shoes!
I think anything goes! Thanks for commenting!
Embrace the flying monkeys…you can rock the witch role!
Come on, Dorothy is SO Midwest!
Oh all right then!
