Weekly Photo Challenge – Down
This is the flight of steps alongside Waverly Station in Edinburgh. It is a very bust thoroughfare despite it’s steepness and you certainly know when you have climbed them!
It was clearly too much for the carrier bag!
Supporting you with Listening Ear, useful blogs and general silliness!
When I saw it, I thought it was some steps in Paris – near Montmartre I think. Never been to Waverly Station – you wouldn’t want to be late for the train!
I am a great fan of Alexander McCall Smith, and have been tempted to (re-)visit Edinburgh. After seeing this photo, though — fuggedaboutit! Seventy-seven year old legs are not up to the challenge — or down to it, either!
Going Down…1st floor please
Perfect post for this week’s challenge. Liked your interpretation of this week’s challenge a lot.

Lovely idea – they remind me of Christmas Steps in Bristol. Edinburgh is on my list of places I really MUST visit!
Cold weather yet such pleasant inhibitors. I missed living with my girlfriend at Edinburgh already! 🙂
Thank you for sharing this bit of Edinburgh with us. I’ve always wanted to visit there — still may, someday. I think I’d start going up about 10 stairs, then back down, until I could do that without crying. Then slowly add more steps to my daily climb, and before I know it, I’m doing the whole thing!
That is a nice photo. Going down must be easier than going up. or is there another way to the top? I like the subtitle of your blog too. I am also a retired woman and less retiring than I used to be.
Nice one. Who needs the stairmaster at the gym when you can climb these everyday!
Oh my, going up would make me wheeze and going down would kill my knees!
My sentiments exactly, but a lovely photo of “down.”
Just looking makes my thighs hurt – but just think of how toned I’d be if I could go up and down there once a day.
that seems like a long flight, i can’t imagine myself going up there in a rush 🙂
Wonderful!
Oh my, I’ve nearly got vertigo looking at that!
Good exercise to climb them though!
We had similar stairs in Liege, Belgium… The problem was that one pretty much always had to go up the before one could go down.
Perfectly down. That’s what fun about cities–beautiful stairways tht become everyday experiences. (of course, my knees are still good…)
OH BOY! I’m tried just looking at this. Great post for the challenge. You have my vote.
BE ENCOURAGED! BE BLESSED!
My legs hurt just looking at that! I love the perspective on the pic and feel sorry for the poor tired carrier bag, lol! :O) @Chaoskay
I have a similar photo from Monmartre. Glad it’s not onmy route to work!
Oh my, I’d definitely rather be going down that than up!
Ha ha, fabulous, Julia. I feel that carrier bag’s pain – I performed at the Edinburgh Festival in ’09 and struggled up those steps many a time.
