Resources to support & inspire your mental health work

The post is full of resources to support & inspire your mental health work!
Dr Pooky Knightsmith is getting better and is starting to provide us all with some more resources to help with working with young people with mental health issues.
Resources to support & inspire your mental health work

Online learning sessions

You can access all of the online learning sessions I recorded earlier in the year here.
The most popular sessions have been:
Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) the very basics
Promoting Staff Wellbeing
Talking to students at risk of suicide
Developing a whole school approach to mental health

Quick Guide videos

More recently, following requests from my network (that’s you!) I have recorded the first in a series of quick guides – these 3-5 minute videos give a very brief introduction – let me know if they are helpful and what other videos you’d like added to the series.  So far I’ve recorded Quick Guides To:
Depression
Eating Disorder Types
Self-Harm
Anxiety

Free Resource – Wellbeing Action Plan

Our wellbeing action plan is proving to be our most popular free resource of all time.  Developed with young people it is a booklet that can be completed by young people to help them develop healthy ways of coping to and to recognise and respond when support might be needed. You can order free copies of this and a range of other printed resources here.

Free book via our book club

Opt in is now open for our mental health book club. This term’s book is ‘Can I tell you about Aspergers’ Syndrome – a guide for professionals, friends and family’.  Complete our survey to opt in for your free copy – feel free to pass the link to friends and colleagues too.

Upcoming events with Pooky speaking

Whilst I’m in the process of returning to work, the number of events I’ll be speaking at will be strictly limited in order to enable me to continue to focus on my recovery from anorexia and PTSD so if you’d like to see me speak then you might like to book onto one of the following:

September 12th – Reading University Conference: Improving mental health in schools – what does the research tell us?

This one day conference brings together high-profile experts from various disciplines and young people who have experienced mental health problems themselves to offer the latest evidence-based advice on how to address mental health in schools, and the best methods to achieve this.

October 3rd Wolverhampton HeadStart Conference: Delivering Transformation: Improving The Resilience & Mental Wellbeing Of Young People. A conference for the children and young people workforce

The one where I keynote alongside Ruby Wax (I can’t wait!) This will be a very practical day which should be as fun as it is informative which we’ve worked alongside our partners at Headstart Wolverhampton to develop.

CWMT newsletter signup

This email is winging its way to you from my personal mailing list.  Please sign up to the CWMT mailing list to be kept up to date with our free resources, conferences, online learning sessions and more.  You won’t be bombarded but you will be more reliably informed about opportunities provided by the trust.
That’s about it from me for now – you’ll be hearing from me a little more frequently now as I’m transitioning back into work. It’s been a tough few months and I’m hugely grateful to everyone who has shown kindness, understanding and patience during my treatment. My health is my first priority right now but I’m very much looking forward to getting my teeth stuck back into my work with CWMT and the Children and Young People’s Coalition.
