Hello World!
Over the iconic strains of Bowie’s ‘Space Oddity’ the BBC tell us that every September thousands of children begin the biggest adventure of their lives. They show pictures of children putting their shoes on and then dressed as spacemen, they are sent out to ‘Boldly go where no-one has gone before’.
Well children have been going to school in September for many years. I doubt that many will go where no other person has been (although, there may be another Columbus out there!). The point that is being made I’m sure, is that each child will learn new things and develop and travel on their own journey.
I decided to begin my new adventure of this blog for the start of a new school year. It seemed fitting given that it is a space for all people who are interested in schooling and education. It will have some serious debates (I hope) and will offer the chance for reflection of current issues. It will also be fun – school is supposed to have that element in it after all!
I do hope you will join me on my own ‘Oddity’. Please feel free to suggest topics or items for us to look at. In the meantime may the force be with you!
Oooh, lovely shiny new blog.
My daughter starts school in September so I shall be hanging on your every word.
Do I really need to send her in with an apple for teacher every day 😉
Looking good – well done 🙂
Very good idea starting at the beginning of the new academic year.
Wow, J. This looks great. Good luck with the new site. I’ll add you to my blogroll, hon. 🙂
Hello,
I’m glad to see you got the new blog up and running! And I’m really looking forward to reading more from The Head’s Office as the year goes by.
Jo
What a fab looking blog! Really looking to see the direction you take it in. Education is certainly labyrinth like (keeping with your Bowie theme) with plenty of twists, turns and fun!
