Do schools need to create Lifelong Learners?

Do schools really think that children are not learners when they first enter the hallowed hallways and they therefore need to be fixed?
The passion of this mum shines through in ‘The Creation of the Lifelong Learner’ as she questions schools that want to ‘create’ lifelong learners. For her, they arrive as sponges ready to explore, investigate and grow. I love her wish to see ‘maintain’ lifelong learners on schools visions.
Pernille Ripp is also a teacher so she does see the other side. Do you agree that schools can plan and extract the creativity out of children rather than utilising the love of life many bring with them?
