Sorry Africa
We have been inundated with football from South Africa. It got me thinking about the role football has in the world and the role it should be playing. I found myself getting very Emotional about it & have put together a video using Elton John’s ‘Sorry’. I do hope you are able to watch & listen.
Here is my take on it.
This post is for the joint theme of ‘Emotions’ for the Gallery at Sticky Fingers & Writing Workshop at Sleep is for the Weak.
As a South African, I feel that although you might have a point regarding the cost to build the many stadiums and fancy venues, the slide show is skewed. The country has come a long way, and we need this world cup to drive the failing economy and the 35% unemployment rate! I am so thrilled the world cup happened because I know we really needed it. When crime is high and spirits are down, a game with no color boundaries and no dollars attached to it for someone to play, is hope. In 20 years the progress in South Africa is visibly recognized the world over, and for this I am grateful to the people of South Africa. We can only hope that the world cup will boost a continued drive to make more progress.
Thank you so much for stopping bu to comment. I can see the point you are making & do so hope you are right that South Africa will benefit from hosting the World Cup. I just felt that the world could have done more with the occassion. I do hope you visit here again!
Very very thought provoking……I have my own opinion on football, especially in the UK. I hope that it was worth it too. Thank you for taking the time to get the message across. Very clever.
Many thanks. I do hope something positive can comeout of it for lots of the countries involved. Thank you for stopping by & commenting!
You are a star! This is all. x
Thanks rosie! Short & to the point as always! Thank you SO much for stopping by!
I can’t watch it! Youtube is banned in Turkey at the moment! (and all the proxies seem to be down…) Sounds like a brilliant idea though and I’ll come back to your post as soon as the politicians here come to their senses.
Oh thatis such a shame! Thank you for commenting though!
Fantastic, very clever x
Thank you. It was fun to do & is easier than it looks – honestly!
Clever, clever lady! Brilliant and thought provoking. well done!
Thanks Chris. I was feeling quite uncomfortable about it all especailly all the nonsense over England!
How true. I can only hope that the whole country can reap the benefits from having the World Cup there.
Time will tell I suppose. Thank you for popping in!
One day maybe I will have to pick your brain as to how you did that – very clever. As for the subject matter, I suppose only time will tell whether the money you have to hope was pumped into the country will really benefit those who need it. The optimist in me truly hope that will be the case – the cynic in me is not so sure.
It is very easy to a video. Not so easy to solve Africa’s problems sadly!
Wow, well done that is brilliant and must have taken you ages, love it 🙂
Not as long as you may think! Glad you liked it!
Simply fantastic. Such a cleverly thought out montage of images, and the music is just perfect too. As for the subject matter I think you’ve cut to the core issue. Yes, sport plays an important part in national pride, but I fear, in the rush to be accepted as a player on the world’s football pitch, there is a risk of forgetting the fundamentals.
Well done, J. Love it.
Thank you HUN!
oooh, that is brilliant! Having just done my own min photo video know what effort went into that!! And yours is sooo much better than mine 😉

It takes a bit of practice but is such fun isn’t it! Thank you for visiting!

A really, really valid point, Julia – and one that has definitely been forgotten over the past few weeks.

Wow! Well done, it must have taken you ages. It’s brilliant and such an original take on the prompt.
Thank you! It is easier than it looks!
