My Pride!
You were the only one
Not planned that way
Sadly the others didn’t stay
At times there were three of us but always us two
Together we learnt, together we grew
I worried, you didn’t – which is how it should be
Now you are grown
Following in my footsteps but on your own path
You make me proud each day
You are the best thing I ever did!
This is me with my darling son. The picture was taken outside Exeter Cathedral where a few years previously he celebrated his graduation ceremony. For those of you with little ones, it gets even better when they’re grown! I dedicate this Jimmy Nail song to my ‘grown one’!For you with love
(with very grateful thanks to @simon haughton & @nickie72)
This post is for Week 15 of the Gallery at Sticky fingers. The theme is motherhood.
That is fabulous, beautifully said 🙂 Jen

Many thanks. I didn’t realise we had to do anything!
This is what i dream of with my sons.
I’m sure it will happen much sooner than you think!
Your son must be very very proud to be your son, too
I hope so! What is they say – you can choose your friends….! Thanks for popping in!
A beautiful poem and I love the photo of the two of you.
Thank you! We have lots like this one now that he’s ‘grown up’!
What a lovely tribute, the words are gorgeous x
Thank you! Many thanks for visiting too!
Oh Julia that is so beautiful. What a lovely tribute to your son. This motherhood post has been so cathartic for me. I have been going through so much emotional stuff with my eldes daughter and your words on my post really meant a lot. You are someone who has come out the other side and seen the value of a new relationship that has developed. I know it develops and grows even more special but it’s hard making those first steps. Thanks for this moving post and for your lovely comments on my post. Hx
Thank you too! I have shared this one with him & thankfully he likes it! sometimes you have to say these things in a removed way don’t you!
Beautiful, beautiful, beautiful!
Thank you so much for taking the time to visit & comment!
Definitely a tear-inducing combo Julia – beautiful post my lovely friend xxx
Thank you P! I was a little pleased with all the bits!
I know how it feels when the others don’t stay but feel so lucky to have the two children I do have. Beautiful post and photo!
Were you able to hear the song & see the video? Thank you so much for your comments & for visitng! Do pop in again!
What a lovely poem, happy and sad. Glad to hear it just gets better, it’s easy to lose sight of that sometimes.
Sometimes it doesn’t feel ‘better’ just different!
I love this – really demonstrates how being a mother doesn’t stop when they are all grown up. x
I think we sometimes think it does or should but it is always there!
Aw…big boy cuddles are definitely where it’s at! Lovely xx
Sure is! Thanks Chris!
That was beautiful. And, you’ve made me blub up thinking about all I have to look forward to. =)
Aw! Didn’t mean to make you cry but I thought it might help to know that they do grow & it is different!
Lovely post, just goes to show, motherhood is for life!
As the song says – Until the day I die…..!
Wow! Fab poem. How lovely. I bet your son is just as proud of you as you are of him! x
That is such a lovely comment! I do hope so! Thank you!
I can’t imagine having grown ones! Thank you for a wonderful teeny insight into the future.
We never think of them as anything other than they are now. Enjoy all of it!
You’re so right about it getting better. I feel I have more time to sit back and look at my boy and appreciate him. Our children becoming adults in their own right is very satisfying for a mum.
Absolutely! You can share in their success which is brill!
Lovely! us mum’s off little ones have so much to look forward to don’t we?!
Yes & sometimes we forget to enjoy it! Thanks for popping in!
Awwww that is so sweet! You both look lovely too, is he single? LOL
He is getting married in Dec!
Lucky woman she is! And getting a fab MIL too:-)
I hope she sees it like that. I always wanted a daughter!
It’s so wonderful to know that they grow up. Thank you for reminding me of that x
You forget don’t you!

I am & sometimes I have to pinch myself that it’s happening to me!
Oh, Julia. You’ve made me cry! So beautiful. Sob. I hope my boys want to spend time with me when they’re all grown up.
I’m sure they will & it’s lovely!
Oh what a lovely song 🙂 and a beautiful poem – half sobbing, half smiling x
And look at you, Mrs Technical… blogging, videos with music and pictures… Go Julia!! 😉
It’s down to you Flower! you just give me that confidnece & a possible kick up the whatsit! Thank you!
that’s all it is really – it doesn’t matter what you do (technical wise) on your blog – 99% of the time, it can be undone or reversed so you should bit the bullet and just go for it 🙂
Lovely lovely lovely – makes me happy to think of what I can look forward to in years ahead.

It’s great when they give you a hug!xx
