Links of Love
The letter is ‘L’ this week for Alphabe Thursday. My recent visit to Paris showed me a new phenomenon and it fits beautifully with ‘L’
Those of you who know Paris will remember it has many bridges crossing the Seine. They are now covered in locks. No – I don’t mean the locks like you get on a canal. I mean locks that you use to secure something. There are all sorts of sizes and colours. Some of them have writing on them and they are all locked with no keys.

I have decided that they are tokens of love and gratitude from one person to another. They are there locked forever as a sign of real devotion. I think it is a super idea!
Have you seen anything similar where you are?
Do pop over to Jenny Matlock’s fabulous blog to see more ‘L’ posts!
I haven’t heard of this. I wonder if it’s like the shoes hung over electrical wires. Someone starts it, then others copy it.
Very interesting!
wow… I didn’t know the reply will embed the actual video instead of a link. Please delete it if it’s too much.
That’s fine! Many thanks. It was really interesting! Thank you for the follow too!
This is a trend in Korea and also in Japan. Although I regret not taking photo of it, I found a video from Youtube,

That is so unique! You may start a trend like that elsewhere by this post!
haaha, I’ve been to this bridge 😀 great post 😀
How fascinating! They certainly are colorful as well. Kind of like graffiti!
These are Lovely…
I Love this concept…
Really cool.
Thanks for linking.

I love this. I had read when they mysteriously removed all the locks and I was glad to see that people put them all back. 😉 http://www.independent.co.uk/news/world/europe/lovelocks-return-to-the-bridges-of-paris-2293506.html
This is so interesting! I really like this different post! I would love to visit Paris! I am so happy I came over and hope you will visit me too. Take care and enjoy the week! Anne
No I haven’t, but that is really an interesting thing to do. I like it!
=)
It is a super idea, and I’d put one there. I have seen a tree outside of a church where we could tie a note to the tree in hope, or prayer or wish…. and we have a very treasured tree along one of our neighborhood lakes that has a little elf that lives inside (no one has ever seen the elf) but if you leave a note inside and come back later…there will be an answers! Or you can just leave little notes of love or links to another just like above!
I just love the idea … I saw the one in Budapest on tv once … i thought it was wonderful!
How lovely – locks of love….
How strange yet wonderful. “Lock”ets of love for sure.

I guess it was one of those things that caught on quickly. What an interesting tradition.
I have never seen anything like this. What fun!
Hi Julia! I saw a lovely post about these a while ago from Lucy Dodsworth (www.ontheluce.wordpress.com) while she was living in Paris (lucky soul) and I believe there’s a “lovers bridge” in Budapest too. Nice romantic idea, isn’t it?
We were in Rome at Christmas and I saw the same there. I didn’t know why they were there but I like your explanation 🙂
This is fantastic.. Makes you wonder what each and every story is behind each lock…
I wonder…

Someone else recently pointed these out to me…I’d find a 100 ways to photograph them. How fun!
I haven’t heard of this, but I can imagine all the young lovers making a little trip to the bridge to lock their hearts together.
That is perfect~I’ve never seen anything like that.
I believe I read that lovers are trying to do the same on some NYC bridges but the city won’t allow it and cut them off. It is a romantic gesture though, isn’t it?
I have never seen anything quite like this. I think your thought on this is a good one. Wish it would spread around the world. Love the photos.
BE ENCOURAGED! BE BLESSED!
This fence is amazing with all the locks, thanks for sharing it. This could start a new trend.
The city of love never disappoints!
