13 challenges – #9 / 2 – Corfe Castle

Corfe castle

For this challenge we visited Corfe Castle, another National Trust property.

The National Trust is a marvellous organisation. I don’t know if the same sort of thing exists in other parts of the world but through it’s membership, they secure the heritage of many wonderful buildings, gardens and even areas of coastline.

It is a regular trip for us (see Ladybirds and Corfe Castle for great view)

The dramatic ruins of a once magnificent castle still evokes a feeling of medieval times of knights and their ladies. The castle was acquired by the National Trust in 1982 so it has plenty of visitors. However, it is not only the castle they come to see. As these pictures show, there is a delightful steam railway that will take you to Swanage (another challenge!)
